Uchiko, child of Uchi, is the offspring of James Beard Award‑winning Chef Tyson Cole's original non‑traditional Japanese concept. While the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Uchiko takes a fiery turn bringing smoke and char alongside the fresh and clean flavors that define Uchi.

read more about Islyn Studio
Islyn Studio is a group of innovative creatives that believe a sensual experience of place can contribute to a life well‑lived. Women‑run, ‑owned and ‑operated, their ethos is one of full‑body participation. For Islyn, this means creating places where people’s experiences matter. As design soulmates of Hai Design Studio, Islyn Studio’s vision for a tropical brutalist design concept shaped the Uchiko experience in Sunset Harbour to feel truly connected to this special neighborhood.

Anastasia Lindahl

pdr tapestry

read more about Anastasia Lindahl

Anastasia Lindahl of Austin, Texas fabricated the tapestry by patchworking indigo‑dyed Japanese fabrics. Devised by Islyn Studio, this functional art piece is used as a savvy strategy to hide the Private Dining Room’s TV when not in use.

The inclusion of this piece in Uchiko Miami Beach is made even more special by the fact that Anastasia is one of Hai Hospitality’s own; starting with Uchiko Austin as a Host in 2011, Anastasia is now the Director of Reservations for all restaurants. Anastasia has been sewing since she was 13, and besides her annual show‑stopping homemade costumes for the office Halloween party, Anastasia has also designed and sewn her own prom dress and wedding dress.
